Not only is Charlie Ashmont on the front page of the Boston Globe today, in an article about the scientific wonder that is his DNA, but Joe’s mother, Mary Pernice, has apparently become a sports commentator for the Boston Herald. What qualifies her for this position, other than her sparkling wit and so forth, is that she gave birth to the guy that wrote “Moonshot Manny.”
